Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
This week’s theme is PEACE
Take a moment to meditate on this passage by picturing yourself in the setting of green pastures and still waters. Oftentimes, we may feel like our lives look more like a raging sea or a scorching hot desert. We fear the shadow of death, fully aware of the enemies before us. This passage teaches that He is with us and that He will lead us to this place of peace and rest even amid the chaos of real life.
Reflection and Discussion:
• In the busy and chaotic holiday season, how can you take some time, individually or as a family, to slow down long enough to experience the peace and rest of His presence in your life?
• How does your confidence that we will “dwell in the house of the Lord forever” bring you deep and lasting peace?
