Genesis 1:3-5

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

This week’s theme is HOPE

In the beginning, God speaks and brings forth light into the darkness. This creative marvelous act God called good. It parallels another moment where God would bring forth light into a dark world. God would send His son Jesus into the world. He would be the light of the world, one who would bring HOPE to those living in the darkness of sin.

Reflection and Discussion:

• Lights are something we all are drawn to at Christmas. Many of us will make special plans to gather with people to go drive and look at lights. As you think about or have conversations about Christmas lights reflect on the beauty that God introduced light as the first spoken act of creation.

•Thank God for the HOPE that he provides through Jesus. Share the truth that Jesus is the Light of the World with someone today.
